The institute of advanced training of higher qualification levels

The Scientific and Clinical School of the Cardiology Research Center began in the post Second World War years, in 1946, with the foundation of the Institute of Therapy in Moscow. The followers of Academician Alexander Myasnikov developed cardiology as a science, not only a clinical branch of therapy.

Academician Evgeniy Chazov, who was a General Director of the Center during more than forty years, stood at the head of the Cardiologic School in the USSR. His passion for knowledge, deep love for the medicine, patients, colleagues created the atmosphere of that classical academic School of Medicine. More than one generation of future doctors dreams of getting our School of Cardiology.

All levels of postgraduate studies (residency, internships, PhD degree in medicine and biology) gives the opportunity to gain knowledge in the HEART of CARDIOLOGIC SCIENCE. Professional development within the walls of such an authoritative medical center provides an excellent opportunity to realize their potential for every young specialist. The learning process in the residence includes not only a theoretical course by the opinion leaders, but clinical practice in hospital , directly at the patient's bedside.

A modern simulation center, equipped with the best models, allows to gain special practical skills under the guidance and supervision of experienced curators - doctors of the intensive care, resuscitators, cardiac surgeons, invasive cardiologists and others.

There are three main educational departments in the Institute.

Department of Cardiology with a course of interventional methods of diagnosis and treatment. The head of the department is Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Chazova. The department includes representatives of all scientific and clinical departments of the Institute of Clinical Cardiology, who are the authors of many monographs, textbooks and guidelines.

Close cooperation of cardiologists and specialists in interventional methods for the treatment of coronary artery disease, rhythm and conduction disorders (radiofrequency ablation, installation of pacemakers), arterial hypertension (denervation of the renal arteries), pulmonary hypertension (transluminal balloon angioplasty and radiofrequency denervation of the pulmonary arteries) is very effective in clinic, scientific and education aspects. Department of ultrasound and functional diagnostics with a course of radiation diagnostics. The head of the department is Professor Marina Saidova, a leading specialist in ultrasound diagnostics of diseases of the cardiovascular system in the Russian Federation, head of the ultrasound diagnostics department. 3D echocardiography, speckle tracking echocardiography, vascular system research methods, including those with contrast enhancement, have been introduced into the practical work of the department. The unification of specialists from various diagnostic areas at one department, such as radiology, computed and magnetic resonance imaging, radioisotope methods, including PET, allows for a consolidated integrated approach to the diagnosis of pathological conditions and for the teaching process at the modern level.

The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Angiology with a course of anesthesiology and resuscitation united top-level specialists under the leadership of Academician Renat Akchurin. They are performing heart surgery and vascular surgeries, valve defects correction, including «hybrid» operations, which, according to Academician Akchurin, provide "minimally invasive, yet radical and effective, age-free intervention." Surgery for the rhythm disturbances is also in the area of interest. The school of cardiovascular surgery of National medical research center is well known not only in Russia, but abroad. All senior surgeons transfer their rich experience to residents in of cardiovascular surgery and anesthesiology-resuscitation. The well-known thesis of Aristotle: "Doctors do not become according to guidelines", is always embodied in practice at the A.L. Myasnikov Research Institute of Clinical Cardiology. The possibility to combine fundamental knowledge and its direct application in the clinics, makes it possible to train specialists who know the most modern, high-tech and innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment in practice.
