Main areas of work

This important support unit exists since the foundation of the Institute of Experimental cardiology because of the need to conduct research using radioactive substances.

Radioactive isotopes are widely used for a long time in molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology and medicine as substances allowing to study the processes that occur in cells and tissues at the molecular level. Molecules labeled with tritium, carbon-14, phosphorus-32, sulfur-35, iodine-125 are widely used at the Institute to solve scientific problems determined by the research aims.

The availability of special equipment, trained personnel and separate rooms allocated in an isolated unit allow complying with all the requirements of the current legislation in the field of the use of radioactive substances and the employees’ health.
