Laboratory of Cellular Hemostasis

The laboratory of cellular hemostasis was established in 2019.

The main areas of research

The work is focused on study of cellular mechanisms involved in the development of stenotic vascular lesions and search for biomarkers for prediction of adverse cardiovascular events.

In particular:

  • the multiplex analysis of the role of pro-inflammatory forms of C-reactive protein in the development of local inflammatory reactions in stable coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome.
  • development of novel microfluidic technology for real-time analysis of the kinetics of parietal thrombosis development under controlled flow conditions. Investigation of the intencity of blood cell interactions with surface-bound proteins (i.e. fibrinogen, collagens, thrombospondin), which simulate damaged vascular wall.
  • study of the role of von Willebrand factor, factor VIII, ADAMTS-13 and glycoprotein receptors in platelet adhesion to protein-coated surfaces under controlled flow conditions.
  • study of the impaired activation of von Willebrand factor in patients with premature onset of coronary artery disease (together with the Department of Problems of Atherosclerosis), thrombotic complications after TAVI (together with the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery), hemostatic disorders (together with the Department of Clinical Problems of Atherothrombosis).
