The X-ray service is one of the oldest diagnostic units of the Russian Cardiology Research Center, equipped with modern digital X-ray equipment. Digital radiography significantly expands the diagnostic capabilities of radiology and allows to get maximum information. More than 25,000 studies are performed annually, mainly studies of the lungs and heart. Studies of bones and joints, paranasal sinus, osteodensitometry are also widely carried out. Work in the department is conducted around the clock.

The main priorities of the practical and scientific activities of the department are X-ray diagnostics of heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, diseases of the cardiovascular system and lungs, including congenital and acquired heart defects, coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathies, rare heart diseases.

Accumulated vast clinical and scientific experience. Standardized X-ray protocols have been created, a technique has been developed for assessing a small circle of blood circulation. The results of scientific and practical activities published in scientific articles, 4 monographs, 3 manuals. The method of assessing the cardiovascular system and pulmonary blood flow used in the department allows to identify the disease at the earliest stage of development, to clarify the cause of the patient's shortness of breath, to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic measures and the course of the disease.

A great deal of experience has been gained in the study of postoperative patients, both in the early and late postoperative period: after coronary bypass surgery, prosthetic heart valves, implantation of a pacemaker, thrombendarterectomy from the pulmonary arteries, angioplasty of the pulmonary arteries, and others.

Doctors of the department are always ready to generously share the accumulated knowledge and experience with colleagues. A large pedagogical work is being conducted in the department: doctors, X-ray technicians are trained. A series of lectures on X-ray diagnostics of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure has been prepared and annually read, a digital archive has been created for the training of doctors.

In department employs highly qualified specialists with great experience in practical and scientific work, 2 of them are candidates of medical sciences (PhD), most of them have the highest qualification category in the specialty “Radiology”
